You Are God’s Witness

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

The era where we go and gather in church and wait for sinners to come to us and get saved is over. It is very important that we don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but we need to acknowledge the fact that times and seasons have changed, and the church is being pushed to become what it was always meant to be. The church is not the building, but the people who occupy the building, and we don’t cease from being the church when we walk off the church property.

We’re given the commission to go into the entire world with the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that brings salvation to the lost. But God did not just send us; He also empowered us with His Holy Spirit. I understand the fear factor, the doubt factor, and all the reasons we push against actually being a witness of Jesus, but if we are endowed with power from above, do we have an excuse? God made us witnesses of His power and enables and equips us to speak and act with power, authority, and wisdom to those who are yet to be saved. The Word did not say we will receive the Holy Spirit so we can jump around in church and talk in tongues. The Word says we shall receive “power when the Holy Spirit comes on” us. This is the power to be a witness.

Paul says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” Let us be bold and declare the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are billions still to hear it, and those in your circle may only get the opportunity to hear it from you. So if not you, who?

Prayer:

Father, You have called me to be bold in representing You in the world. May You grant me the boldness to speak and be an example of Your Word to those I encounter today. While I speak and act in boldness, stretch out Your hand to heal, and perform signs and wonders through the name of Your holy servant, Jesus.
