You Are God’s Vessel
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory. (Romans 9:23)
Everything I share with you in this series of devotionals are lessons I learned along my own journey of faith. I have had to go through a painful transition from a purely ‘religious’ mindset, to see life and reality from God’s pespective, and it is not what we think; nor can it be discerned by mere common sense and human reasoning. Our identity in Christ extends all the way back to the beginning of time, when man emerged as a living soul from the dust of the earth infused with the breath of God. You cannot fully embrace this reality if you choose to hold on to what you know. The process of maturity for human beings is always incumbent on us learning what we do not yet know.
One reality we can accept now, and it is an ever expanding reality, is that we are vessels and vessels are designed to carry something. Some religions don’t believe this, and I can’t fully explain the mystery of it, but God dwells inside the body of a beliver. We carry God; He resides within. He has built a throne inside your heart, and He sits there. This is why peer pressure and other external principles are so dangerous, because they are systems designed to try and thwart or skew our identity. The good news is, the real source of our identity comes from within, and only you and God have access to it.
We are carriers of God’s presence. It’s an enormous responsibility that we should not take lightly or for granted. If we are indeed vessels that carry the presence of God, then that should be what is poured out of us as well. Some of us try to play a multi-purpose vessel for the world and Christ, but this mixture can only lead to disaster. Let us be carriers of the Kingdom of God so that He can live through us. Allow His kingdom within to expand by knowledge and revelation.
Father, thank You that I am counted among those chosen to carry Your presence. I accept this big responsibility and ask that Your Holy Spirit will teach and guide me on how to be a good steward of what You have placed inside me. May my true identity in You begin to emerge, in Jesus Name.
