Description
This play is loosely based on the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abendigo and it takes place in a more modern setting. It is a story of survival and adamant faith. Guilty as Charged is a cross between the end times play, The Mark, and the courtroom drama, The Trial…only a little more Intense.
The story begins with a committee meeting among delegates as they seek ways to unify the people. They decide that religion is the means to that end, except there should only be one god. A new law is submitted and approved by the government that everyone should worship an image of the Prime Minister, who represents the god they all serve, and bow down and worship that image in a service held once a week.
Christians are now fugitives and if caught and they refuse to bow down to the image, they are sentenced to death by fire.
