Practice of Prayer

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. (Matthew 6:6 – NLT).

I want to continue my discourse on the practice of prayer. If you are a believer, and when ask about the practice of prayer, your response is, “I just can’t find the time to really pray,” there is a great chance you don’t understand what prayer is. If you can receive this revelation on prayer, you can be liberated knowing that you have more than enough time to pray, and you can do it anytime, anywhere.

We have made prayer into a chore. So, we need to be less busy, children in bed, phones, and television off, then try to find somewhere we can kneel or sit quietly before we can pray. We have pulled a spiritual principle and made it a natural practice, thereby, it becomes hard and challenging for those who are always on the go, and I know that place all too well; our conscience never lets up, and we feel guilty and condemned that we are not doing what is often classified as the most important practice for a growing believer.

Prayer is not natural, it is spiritual, and the One we pray to is also a Spirit. He dwells inside every believer, which suggest that the secret place is also within the believer. We must always go “in” to pray, and we can do this anytime, and anywhere. You don’t have to turn off your television to pray. You can watch a movie with the Lord, talk about what is happening, and enjoy the company of your Maker. That’s relationship, and you may find that those prayers produce more results than the ‘other kind’ of praying. We need to start developing our inner relationship with God, so we are always connected to Him, and always communicating with Him.

Father, thank You for the opportunity to learn and grow. As You open up my understanding to what prayer is, I desire to increase my time spend with You knowing I always have access, anytime, anywhere. May You engage me in conversation as I seek to do the same, in Jesus Name.
