Christmas Story for Kids

Christmas Story ... Just for Kids....

This play will begin with an introduction made by Isaiah and John (the Baptist). We'll then journey with Mary and Joseph, from the time she is visited by Gabriel, to their entering Bethlehem where Jesus will be born.

Along the way we'll meet Herod in his usual ill-tempered state, the Three Wise Men with gifts in their hand, three cowardly Shepherds and a very grumpy Innkeeper who loves to say 'NO ROOM' Our story, of course, will climax at the Manger where all characters will gather for the finale.

Sample Scenes

King Herod comes onstage and he paces back and forth.

He takes a seat at CS.

            Wise men enter singing:
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect Light.
They stop singing and stand before King Herod.

KING: I hear you three have been looking for the King of the Jews.

WISE MAN: Yes, sir…we have.

KING: Well, here I am.

WISE MAN II: You’re not the one we seek, sir.

KING: But there is no other King.

WISE MAN III: The ancient prophets speak of a King who would take the Throne of David and rule Israel forever…a Messiah.

WISE MAN: Then, we’re sorry to have disturbed you, sir.

            They turn to exit.

KING: Wait.

            They stop.

KING: Tell me a little more about this Messiah.

WISE MAN: He is to be born of a virgin.

KING: This is a joke, right.

WISE MAN II (no joke): We have calculated that he would be born within this year.

WISE MAN III: The star that you see there in the East has confirmed his arrival.

KING: Okay, if this is true…then, if or when, you find this King…let me know. I would also like to offer him my worship.

WISE MAN: Do you have a cell number?

The King fumbles through his garment and produces a card.

KING: Here’s my card.

Wise Man looks at the card, and then puts it away.

WISE MAN: We’ll be in touch.

            Wise men exits.

KING: There will be no other King. GUARDS!

Thank you for all you do for the work of the Lord.  We purchased "The Christmas Story" kid's play and presented it on December 23. The children enjoyed doing the play and the audience seemed to have enjoyed seeing it.

Bethel AME Church from Freehold, NJ's Junior Sunday School children produced the play - The Christmas Story - .  They were so happy about doing it that we are starting a theatre ministry.  We'll be putting on Christians Plays.. We will need your help.  There are so many wonderful stories in the Bible that I will be ordering your catalog. I thank God for your talent and I thank you for your willingness to share.

All the children were great and the play was simple enough for even our pre-schoolers to participate.  Our entire catechism classes from pre-K to 12th grade were involved in the program.  The Christmas Story along with a little modern humour was very refreshing.
