PLAY REVIEWS

Some friends and I from my church (I attend the Perrine Seventh-day Adventist Church in Miami) decided that there hadn't been a play in our church in quite a while.  So 3-4 months after hard practice and some setbacks, we put the play on.  It was warmly received.  People loved the whole concept of your play. I'd say at least 200 people showed up ( I didn't expect that much) and I'm sure our efforts were blessed that night...thank you for writing this play, God Bless

I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a production of your play, THE TRIAL, that was performed by the Single's Ministry at our church, New Mt. Calvary Baptist church in Houston, Texas.  The play was an overwhelming success and God really glorified himself; many lives were changed that night.

Thanks so much, and God bless you.

As a fellow Jamaican, let me tell you how proud you make me feel. I fell on your scripts/website while doing a Google search about short christian plays. I instantly made a copy of "Behold He Comes", the skit you have so graciously allowed to be free of charge and in a downloadable format. Not only is the script biblically based, but its slight comedic flavor does not overpower the weight of the payment for sin before our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ came onto the scene.

I write to say thank you for sharing your talent with the world and also thank you for using your talent to give God glory. The play that I downloaded will be performed at my church in Newark, NJ (U.S.) on our Youth Sunday. It is my prayer that our performance will not only highlight your gifts but most importantly that one soul will "give [their] life to Him...After all...He gave His life for [us]."

Thank you for writing such a brilliant and encompassing story that helps to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and His saving power.

Well, this year, I performed your play "Behold He Comes" at my church and I'm told it was an absolute blessing to the congregation. They loved it! They talked about it for days or more. My Drama Team did an excellent job in their roles/characters. Thank you so much for granting me permission to use  it and please keep writing!!!

The production went GREAT! We performed it at two churches over the weekend and the response was tremendous... The children in the audience were spell-bound and very well behaved.

Each actor played multiple characters with the exception of Thomas, Bartimeus, and Jesus. We had the pastor of the church on Friday play Jesus. The congregation went wild when he came out...There were a couple of ladies that I thought was going to have to go to the hospital; they never stopped laughing! I have been wanting to do something like this for several years...

"The Coming" was an incredible and hilarious play. Mr. Cleveland you have done it again! The audience and the cast enjoyed it to the fullest. Yo gwaan laugh til yo belly buss!

At first the cast was a bit reluctant and lazy, but by the last rehearsal, the ball was on the roll and everything just fell into place. The best thing about this play was that it left room for expansion on any grounds and I took advantage of that room. It was a play with a twist as all the cast had different accents. Bartimeus and Thomas were the stars of the show as I had them put on British and Russian accents. The audience loved them. Lester was given an Arabian accent and he played that part well. Ultimately, this play and the whole idea and theme behind this play was fantastic and very original. Cleveland ...I will be doing business with you again!

I just wanted to let you know that I thought the play "Chains" was an awesome play. I was looking for something for my teens at church to do on a fifth Sunday. And this was perfect. I love the meaning behind it. God has truly anointed you in this ministry. I will continue to pray for you as God will continue to bless you to find words that will reach His people.

I am a pastor for Unity In Jesus Church in Hawaii.  And I believe by leading of the Holy Spirit I came upon your play on the internet. The mission statement for our non profit organization is Isaiah 61:1.  So this play definitely expresses this. I praise God for giving you this awesome talent.

I just read your play. It's a great play. I was looking for something our matrons could do to tell a story to the young and old and saw your play.  Our matrons would love to act this out at our convention this May 2006.

Our youth are very excited about the play and I'm confident they will do an outstanding job.  What's even more remarkable is that one of our youth who normally doesn't like participating in much volunteered to play David. That was a big surprise and we are excited to see him in action. Myself along with the director of our educational department would like to thank you for allowing us to use your play, but most of all we want to encourage you to keep using your gift and helping others to get the word of God through your plays.

God lead me to your site (3/14/2006), flipping through different sites looking for creative ideas for Easter. I am the Children and Youth Director of the Washington Temple C.M.E. Church in Shreveport, LA. The play 'Chains' is the type of material I have been looking for (contemporary and relational to all ages, especially the youth). Please allow God to continue to use you in a creative way to bless the Body of Christ.

I read your script entitled 'Chains' which I found very challenging and true to life. This is something many of us struggle with and I feel this production can and has brought about deliverance.

God richly bless you as you continue in this ministry.

I was looking for a play for our kids to do.  Between my sister and myself we have 11 grandchildren who we are working  hard to keep grounded in the Word.  When I went to your web-site you offered a free play.  When I downloaded the play "chains", it did something special for me reading this play.  You see my son's name is Marco and I will just say-- you do not know how close this touched home for me.. May God richly bless you.

We performed this play on Easter and it was tremendous.  There were a few changes that we had to make to cater to our audience, but it could not have been possible without your foundation.  We were called upon to do a encore performance.  The Lord really blessed!  Keep up the good work!  And Thank You!!!

...We did the play with our high school youth group.  This was our 7th annual Easter Drama Dinner Theatre.  We had a group of about 46 kids...8th grade - 12th grade.  This is our largest fund raiser to support our kids summer trips.  The most important part of what we do is use this as an outreach.   I spend hours searching for plays with a strong Easter message.

The "Easter Carol" was the after dinner play.  It was a huge success!  Praise God!  He always pulls it together in spite of our abilities!  We have production teams that support our efforts, all volunteers from the church.  The set design was amazing... the costumes were very realistic...we added dramatic music when Jesus was being flogged and of course there was blood. We used sound effects and creative lighting.  We had strobes, fog, a mirrored ball +  our stage lighting and spots.

We had Jesus drag the cross with the crowd and soldiers entering from the back of the church down the centre isle.  When they reached the centre stage we went to black and had the sound of pounding nails...very dramatic!  When the lights came up there was Elijah in his blood stained shirt!  At the end of the play after Elijah goes to the window with his last line, we went to black and played "You can't keep a good man down" and Strategically had Jesus appear when the chorus began, "You can't keep a good man down" with dramatic lighting dressed in white with the nail marks on His hands.  We serve a risen Savior ....amen!   The audience went wild!

We are a small country church in Gays, IL and none of us are  professionals we just have a passion for doing what we do...Everyone stretches themselves beyond what they believe they can do.  We had an audience of about 400.  We incorporated mimes, worship dance and puppetry this year.   This ministry has grown into something amazing...the local news channel featured our kids.

Your play was very good, I appreciate what you do.  Thank you and God Bless your ministry!
