THE TRAVELLER
~~~
Jesse Stephens is a missionary and a musician
who goes on a journey to find his mother. His journey takes
him to No Man's Land ruled by an Atheist named Lord Azor who
has led a massive rebellion against Christians with the
intention of wiping God clean off the lips of men. He has
slaughtered many, but with the Elders insisting that there
be coalition, Lord Azor has resorted to locking those who
choose to remain steadfast in their Faith away in a dungeon,
in chains.
Jesse meets Eve, one of the few teenagers around
and he learns that his mother is somewhere in No Man's Land.
He has come too far to turn back now and even with a gun
pointing at him and young, scarred lips warning him to move
on...he tarries just the same. His persistence leads him to
where his mother and cousin Zora is being kept...but there
is something remarkably different about his Godly
Mother...she has lost faith in God. Armed with powerful solo
voices and an old Hymn Book the scene explodes into worship
the night before their execution and God answers in his
usual way by breaking chains and saving souls.
The audience
will identify with circumstances that other great men of the Bible, like
Joseph, has
met and overcome, the ultimate victory of which lies within our praise...The
songs that I choose for this musical are songs that we're
familiar with such as 'Nearer my God to thee' and
contemporary worship songs like 'Shout to the Lord' ' Praise
the Lord' and more. No original songs are used as I envision
the audience joining the singing and I especially wanted
them to be able to worship with the cast during the Final
Scene which explodes into a dynamic worship session.
